A ‘superb’ card routine by Roy Johnson. You ask the spectator if they would like to see a ‘good’ or ‘superb’ card trick. Naturally, they pick superb. You hold the deck of cards, while you hand the spectator an ‘imaginary’ set of three die (this is so they will have a fair choice). The numbers of the three die are added together to get a total, and you count of that number of cards from the deck, placing the remainder of the deck to the side. You ask them whether or not it would be superb that you knew beforehand that you would know their card. Turning over the card, they see that the word SUPERB is written twice upon the card. You then tell them that they are not impressed, that they suspect that more than one card is marked this way. You then run through all the cards showing them that they are all marked the same way. You then ask if it would not be SUPERB if you really did know the identity of their selected ahead of time. You then next ask if they know the definition of the word SUPERB. You tell them you have an excerpt to show them. Opening a small plastic card wallet, which has been in view the entire time, you show the highlighted portion of a dictionary with the definition that you read. You then say that there is more of the definition on the reverse side. You remove this card (which is laminated), turning it over to show a duplicate of the selected card.
