|Personally Speaking – Summer 2006|
Summer is hot! Magic is hot! Business is hot! New items are hot!
Just back from the Annual SAM Convention in Louisville , KY. There were 650 plus attendees and the acts were good as well as was the lectures and close-up shows! The dealer room was exciting and Louisville is a great city! Home of Lance Burton, Mac King and Okito lived there for years when he worked with the Don Redmond Magic Company! (Some of Okito’s finest pieces came out of this era!) It also is famous for the Annual Kentucky Derby and Mint Juleps and also the home of Mohammed Ali (who loves magic.)
One of the highlights of the convention was a ride on the “Belle Of Louisville ,” the oldest steamboat still in operation.
The convention was dedicated to our good friend, David Goodsell, retired editor of the M-U-M Magazine. David was the editor for 30 years and can you imagine meeting deadlines like that each month for 30 years? (Faget about it!) He was a dedicated editor and the honor bestowed upon him was truly deserved! He sure didn’t do it for the money! He did it for the passion he has for magic and his lovely wife, Jan, who supported him all of those years.
